Primary Prevention:When physical stamina drop has not yet set in
Pre-conditioning is not a familiar concept to most people. At A Healing Heart Medical, we aim to introduce this to our patients.
Pre-conditioning is a process whereby we aim to boost your health, stamina and endurance to a higher level before a potential stressful event or procedure/operation so that your chance of a better outcome would be higher.
Our qualified team of doctors, nurses and therapists are here to micromanage your every step in this process. As pre-conditioning will require certain period of time for optimal effect, do come to us earlier to kick start your journey.
It is suitable for people who have:
- heart disease
- lung disease
- kidney disease
- feeling breathless
- post-COVID infection
- pre- and post-operation
Stamina Assessment and Health Screening
We all think that we know our own strength and weaknesses. But do we truly know our benchmark? At A Healing Heart Medical, we will help you to find out. Together with our therapists, we will assess both your physical function and medical screening to find out where you stand at this point in time.
Secondary Prevention:When disease has already set in and we seek to prevent or reduce your drop in physical function
Life is unpredictable even in this era of medical advances. Sometimes after operation or long periods of bed rest (e.g., after heart attack or stroke, our bodies) can get de-conditioned very rapidly where we lose our hard-earned stamina, physical and mental strength within 2-3 weeks.
There will be some rehabilitation at hospitals but usually these will not be enough.
At A Healing Heart Medical, we work hand in hand with our physiotherapists to guide you back and recondition your body both physically and micromanaging your pre-existing conditions and medications. Your progress will be shared seamlessly between different members of the team, and we will walk with you along the path of reconditioning.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy helps to enable persons who are affected by injury, illnesses, or disabilities to regain and optimise their movement and function. At A Healing Heart Medical, we work closely with our physiotherapist to help patients achieve their full potential so that they can continue to live a full and active lifestyle as much as possible.
Why should you see a physiotherapist?
A physiotherapist will be able to assess the nature and extend of your medical problems, set goals based on what is most important to you, provide treatment, support, and advise, guide you through regular training and evaluate your progress systematically. The role is different from a physical trainer.
When should you start physiotherapy?
We recommend that you start physiotherapy as soon as possible to speed up recovery. Over time, targeted physiotherapy can help improve your mobility and activity levels and improve the quality of your life.
